Connect Your Scale

At this stage, you've installed the Shippy Connect extension and you're looking to automatically add the weight of your packages when generating shipments. This is now possible through Shippy Connect, where adding a scale is a one-time action.

To add a scale, you'll rely on two programs:

  1. Shippy Connect must be running on your desktop, and

  2. HubSpot must be open in your Shippy Settings > Hardware tab.

First, let's start in HubSpot. Head to Shippy Settings > Hardware, where you can collapse the Setup Instructions and scroll past Printers. You should see a section for Scales.

Be sure your scale is turned on and connected to your computer. Click Add Scale in the upper right-hand corner:

Your scale will display on a list of connected devices. Select your scale and click Save.

To confirm your setup is complete, head to Shippy Connect, where you'll see your scale reflect in Shippy Connect > Scales.

Now that everything’s set up, read on below to use your scale for shipment generation!

Add Weight to Shipments

To add weight to your shipments, you'll first need to generate a shipment. You can either generate a shipment manually via Shippy's Create Shipment app card or rely on Barcode Import for automated shipment generation.

Use Your Scale via Create Shipment

  1. Access the Shippy | Create Shipment app card on the right-hand sidebar of Contacts, Companies, Deals, Tickets, or Help Desk in HubSpot.

  2. Select Create Shipment and confirm the address details, as well as any signature requirement. Click Next.

  3. Select your preset package or remain on "Custom" to add your parcel dimensions. This includes Quantity, Length, Width, and Height. For Weight, remove any preset values and ensure your curser is active in the Weight text box.

  4. Place your parcel on the scale. Once the weight has calibrated, it will pass that value over to the Weight field.

  5. Remove your parcel from the scale and, if applicable, enter values under the Custom Field options. Once you're satisfied with your package information, click Next and proceed with selecting your rate/carrier, reviewing your shipment.

  6. Generate your shipment.

Use Your Scale via Barcode Import

  1. Access Shippy | Generate Packing Slip on your desired deal record.

    1. Please ensure you have all items you intend to ship indicated as Line Items.

  2. Select "With Shipment Data" under Include Barcode.

  3. Click Generate Packing Slip.

  4. Download or print your packing slip in one of two ways:

    1. Click Packing Slip on the app card. Download or print in the upper right-hand corner.

    2. Download or print via Shippy Settings > Packing Slips. This action can be completed individually or in bulk.

  5. Now, go to Barcode Import in your Shippy Settings. Position your cursor in the Barcode Scanner Input textbox:

  6. Scan the barcode on your packing slip via your scanner device. This will automatically load your address and package information.

  7. Under Package Details, locate Weight. Position your cursor in the weight textbox and place your parcel on your scale.

  8. Once the weight has calibrated, it will pass that value over to the Weight field.

  9. Remove your parcel from the scale. Proceed with selecting your rate/carrier and reviewing your shipment.

  10. Generate your shipment.
