Shippy by Dijy now includes Barcode Import (beta), a feature designed to optimize shipment creation by importing details directly from a packing slip's barcode.

What Is Barcode Import?

Barcode Import allows you to use a barcode scanner to populate shipment details by scanning a unique barcode on your shipment's packing slip. Rather than manually creating a shipment via the desired record, you simply scan the barcode and Shippy will pre-fill shipment fields on your behalf.

This method is especially useful for:

  • High-volume shipping

  • Warehouse and fulfillment teams

  • Reducing errors from manual entry

  • Faster shipment setup during packing

Because this feature is in beta, functionality may evolve as we gather feedback and improve the experience.

Where to Find Barcode Import

To access Barcode Import:

  1. Log in to HubSpot. Head to Settings > Integrations > Connected Apps > Shippy by Dijy.

  2. Locate the Settings tab. From there, you'll find Barcode Import on the right-hand side:

How Barcode Import Works

The Barcode Import screen includes a Barcode Scanner Input field. This field is designed to translate data via standard barcode scanner devices.

First, generate a packing slip on your desired Deal record. When creating via the Deals app card, you'll have the option to Include Barcode by selecting With Shipping Data.

Refer to this article for a step-by-step on generating packing slips with Shippy.

Once your packing slip has been generated, you're ready to scan the barcode:

  1. Click inside the Barcode Scanner Input textbox

  2. Ensure your cursor is actively awaiting input within this field

  3. Scan the desired barcode using your scanner device

Once scanned, the barcode data is automatically captured and used to import shipment information, including the Sender Address, Recipient Address, and Package Details:

If you rely on a scale to determine the weight of your package, you'll need to install our newest extension, Shippy Connect. Shippy Connect runs in the background to enhance your printing or weighing process through minimal manual selection.

Follow the steps outlined in All About Shippy Connect to install Shippy Connect, then head to Add a Scale to connect your scale.

Once your scale is connected, head back to Barcode Import and align your cursor in the Weight textbox. Place your packed parcel on the scale - this will populate with the exact weight (pounds or kilograms) measured by your scale.

💡 Make sure the input fields are focused (your cursor is active) before scanning or weighing. If the field is not awaiting a response, your input may not be captured.

When to Use Barcode Import

Barcode Import is best used when you or your packing team use a barcode scanner in day-to-day operations, and when:

  • You’re scanning packing slips as part of a packing workflow

  • You regularly rely on packing slip barcodes to generate shipments

  • You're seeking an efficient, automated method to generate shipments

As we continue to refine this feature, we recommend testing it out and sharing feedback with our team!
